An inspiration for Veterans Day

44 Business Capital recently contributed to Soldier Socks, a great charity assisting veterans to re-acclimate to civilian life.  As a thank you for our donation, my partner and I were given passes to the Army Navy Cup soccer game held at PPL Park in Chester, PA.  I invited three of my high school soccer teammates to join me, two of which were veterans themselves.  Prior to the game, Soldier Socks introduced the crowd to Dan Rose, an Army veteran who served in the Kandahar Province in Afghanistan.  Dan was paralyzed from the chest down when an IED with over 1,000 lbs of explosives was detonated.  Sergeant Rose was at the Army Navy soccer game for the ceremonial coin toss but instead of approaching midfield in his wheel chair, Dan got to his feet and walked out for the coin toss thanks to Soldier Socks who provided Sergeant Rose with the Ekso Bionics GT™ robotic exoskeleton, which enables individuals with any amount of lower extremity weakness or paralysis to stand up and walk.   I encourage you to watch the video from Fox 29 News and see the hope that abounds for all returning vets.  Dan has been on WWE Smackdown and may also be featured at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against our own Philadelphia Eagles.

There are so many worthwhile organizations out there helping our Veterans and we’ve worked with many of them:

Fisher House

MARSOC Foundation

Soldier Socks

Wounded Warriors

Please take some time this Veterans Day to give your time, reach into your pocket or simply say thanks to a Vet!  It’s the very least we can do.
