CHALLENGE

Twist & Shout Records is a longtime, popular record store that has become part of Denver life. The owners Jill and Paul Epstein believed if it were to disappear there would be "a huge hole in the cultural and musical life of our city." When the original owners decided to retire, they agreed to sell the business to their general manager and longtime employee, Patrick Brown. The Epstein's were looking for a smooth and seamless transition of ownership. For a lender, financing was a challenge due to limited funds available for the equity injection and the lack of collateral. Given the strength of the business and the experience of the buyer, we were able to work well together with the buyer and seller to find a creative financing solution that worked for all parties involved.
